There are two designs that compress Silicone differently :
White GL base have more room for the silicone to flex for smooth operation. Good for overall setups.
Black GL base have better stability, but it will slightly add more tension. Good for low tension setups.

Based on switch spacing, there are two options:
Fixed Spacing is traditional mounting method  where all the switches have same distance/spacing. Good for user who prefer simplicity.
Variable Spacing, it allows user positioning switch individually, to adjust sensitivity for each directions. Good for user who like tuning lever. Switch Spacer needed to set the switches spacing (sold separately).

*All necessary screws are included on every GL base.

When adjusting the switches you don't need to unscrew completely, because the nut inside the base can be out of place and you will need to open the base to fix it. Just make 360 rotation counter clock to loose the screw until switches can move, then it is ready for adjustment.

When fixing the screw after adjustment never do overtight, it can damage the base and makes difficult to remove the screw, just put enough tension to keep the switch in place when actuate. Some tips, tighten it using thumb and pointing finger only when holding screwdriver to reduce overtighten risk.

I managed to break my original white base by overtightening one of the screws holding one of the bottom switches. The nut was not centred correctly, and bore a small gap, resulting in one of the screws spinning round and never actually tightening the switch to the base anymore, rendering it useless. I ordered the black base as my replacement and paid more attention to making sure the nuts are correctly centered before tightening the screws. That problem aside, my IST grommets didn’t initially fit the black base design because of the four ‘posts’ within the black unit. You could just order the custom ASI grommets but I didn’t know this when I placed my order, so I just used a dremmel and bore the four holes into my existing IST grommet until it fitted! It worked now I’m back in business.. I prefer to set my A5 switches by hand, setting one at a time then tightening when I get the throw distance and activation correct, by listening for the click just before the stick hits the gate. This is a good solid base for your lever setup as long as you look after it and pay careful attention to the base screws and particularly the nuts holding the switches.

Love both the black and white variable bases. They allow me to use smallest switch spacing for AH7 and Cherry switches. Keeping hex nuts in place while screwing replacing microswitch can be tricky.

Having tested the black core is really impressed me overall. Paired together with the new X tension variant of the new GL silicons. Having tighter tolerances really do help with the neutral stick tension and I noticed it immediately.

GL base is good but the m3 screw come with it is not long enough go through microswitch to base. Little bit 😔
